Faber-Castell Capsters
Faber-Castell
Established in 1761, Faber-Castell is the stationery & art supply brand that most of us grew up with. With a strong and proud European heritage it’s known for quality and entrusted by families all over the world to unleash their kids’ creative potential. The client approached us with this special APAC project with the goal of injecting energy and desirability into the brand via a range of limited edition collectible pen pals - Capsters.
The Capsters property needed a distinctive visual identity to stand out from the core Faber-Castell product offering, but appeal directly to school kids and their parents. The brief also asked for key visuals for comms, packaging, POS and digital assets to be tailored and executed by each country’s in-house studio. But the key to the entire brief was the Capster characters. We developed a range of concepts and designs which were then translated to create the unique pencil toppers. The range of Capsters cover a range of approaches - some of the properties relating to Faber-Castell’s storied heritage, their contributions to sustainable practices and of course directly to the target audience and the cultures they are part of.
From a process perspective, Walter worked directly with the Regional Head of Marketing in a nimble and collaborative process. Our combined experience and open conversations worked well to maximise time and budgets for the concept development. And then Walter worked closely with the in-house design team to produce the library of assets needed to execute the packaging and launch campaign.
